Poinsettia Park Has a New Epic Playground

We’ve been coming to Poinsettia Community Park nearly every day for the past three and a half years or so. It is our favorite park because it offers a lot of natural shade and natural landscaping with beautiful trees.

Unfortunately the playground had been under construction for over a year, but this has not stopped us from enjoying this beautiful Carlsbad gem. BUT now Poinsettia Park has a new epic playground that just opened on September 20, 2019!

We were one of the firsts to step foot on the new playground, something we had been waiting for every single day for over a year. We start out by doing a Stroller Strides workout with our Fit4Mom village followed by a playgroup or playing at the park.

Poinsettia Park Playground

Poinsettia Park is the perfect park for sports, TGIF summer concerts in the park and getting out for some fresh air and exercise. They also added the city’s first pickleball court! A dog park will also open sometime next year.

According to the City of Carlsbad, pickleball is:

a mix between tennis, racquetball and ping pong. Players use special paddles and a wiffle ball and play on courts slightly smaller than tennis courts. The game has attracted enthusiastic supporters in Carlsbad, who now have a new dedicated place to play.

But back to what I was saying:

Poinsettia Park has a new epic playground!

The new, much larger playground is located where the former playground was located. There is an area for younger kids and an area for older kids, both with modern features, interactive equipment and plenty of benches to sit at.

There are both rubber and turf hills that are really fun for climbing on.

My kids really enjoyed the modern swing (which will fit at least a few small kids), fun textured slides, climbing equipment and teeter totter.

We even went back later that day (on opening day) so that my son could enjoy it too (he was at school). Be sure to check out Poinsettia Park’s brand new epic playground!

Poinsettia Community Park in Carlsbad is located at: 6600 Hidden Valley Rd. Carlsbad, CA 92011
